Course Reserves PolicyEligible Materials | Submitting Materials | Circulating Materials | More Information Course Reserves in the CIIS Library serve to provide students with access to readings assigned by CIIS faculty. There are primarily two areas of Library Course Reserves services:
Materials Eligible for ReserveOn a term-by-term basis, the Library can place required and recommended readings of physical items from course syllabi on our reserve shelves upon request. Reserves are held for the semester that the course is offered, then returned to faculty or to the Library stacks. Physical course reserves If the Library does not already own an item, we will consider purchasing a copy if it otherwise meets our collection criteria, and we have ample lead time before the term begins. Owing to budgetary constraints, no more than six items will be purchased for any single course. Individual articles or photocopies of chapters are not eligible for Library course reserve. It is recommended that you have your department assemble a copyright-compliant course reader for these materials. Course readers cannot be put on reserve in the Library. Submitting Reserve MaterialsLibrary course reservesCirculation of Reserve MaterialsLibrary course reserve items circulate to students for two hours at a time. Students may check out Library-owned reserve books within two hours of the Library's closing and opt to keep them overnight, but must return them within two hours of the Library's opening the next day. Overdue fines are $2.00 per day. Reference books, A/V materials and Faculty-owned copies on reserve are for library use only, and may not be checked out.
